Actions
Certify
The certify action opens the appraisal for employees and appraisers to certify their acknowledgement of their part in the appraisal process.
Deactivate
Deactivate allows appraisers to deactivate appraisals that are no longer needed.
Edit
Editing an appraisal sets the status of the appraisal to Started, Not Sent to Employee and the appraisal must be accepted by the employee.
Overdue for Return
An appraisal indicated as 'Overdue for Return' will allow the appraiser to send the appraisal to HR. Appraisals that have not been reviewed by the employee within 10 days sending the appraisal to the employee for review become overdue for return.
Print/Print Version
Selecting 'Print Version' opens the appraisal in a print-friendly format for viewing and printing. No changes can be made or saved to the appraisal in this format.
Application Shared Menu Items
Employee Access
Selecting the 'Employee Access' button opens a login page for a person entering the system in the role of an employee being appraised.
Appraiser Access
Selecting the 'Appraiser Access' button opens a login page for a person entering the system in the role of an appraiser.
HR Access
Selecting the 'HR Access' button opens a login page for a person entering the system in the role of a HR administrator.
FAQs/FAQs and Guide
Selecting the 'FAQs and Guide' button opens the Frequently Asked Questions and Guide page.
UM Policy
Selecting the 'UM Policy' button opens the University of Memphis policy UM1242, Performance Appraisal of Staff Employees.
Logout
Selecting the 'Logout' button exits the currently logged in user from the application.
Employee Menu
Active Appraisals
This is the default/home screen upon logging in as an employee. Selecting the 'Active Appraisals' option returns the employee to their home queue, which lists active appraisals that have been created for the employee.
History
Selecting the 'History' option opens the employee's history queue, which lists the employee's past performance appraisals that have been marked for archiving or archived. The employee can select the linked Appraisal date to open the Print Version of the appraisal.
Appraiser Menu
Active Appraisals
This is the default/home queue upon logging in as an appraiser. Selecting the 'Active Appraisals' option returns the appraiser to their home queue, which lists active appraisal for which they have started, been given coediting access, and viewing access. Appraisals displayed on this page are active and are still processing through appraisal workflow. Appraisals will no longer show on this page once they are completed and archived.
Start New Appraisal
Selecting the 'Start New Appraisal' option opens the performance appraisal editing form. The editing form is designed to save editing changes every 30 seconds once the forms is linked to a person (by entering an employee's user name in the User name field.)
Access Control
Selecting the 'Access Control' option opens the access control queue, which lists all appraisal created by the person currently logged in to the application.
History
Selecting the 'History' option opens the history queue, which lists the names of employees for which the currently logged in user has been granted viewing access to past performance appraisals. Select an employee's name to view a date-ordered list of the employee's past performance appraisals available for viewing.
Form Sections
User name (UUID)
Enter the employee's user name, also called the UUID or Universal User ID (i.e. ttiger3). Click on the link "Click here to auto-populate ID, name, title, and department fields upon starting appraisal" to activate the auto-populate.

Appraisal ID
This is a read-only, arbitrary number assigned by the system to identify the appraisal.
Banner ID
The Banner ID is an employee identification number assigned by the University. This field may be auto-populated.
Name
Name fields display the employee's first and name last name. This field may be auto-populated.
Title
Title field displays the employee's job title. This field may be auto-populated and can be overwritten if incorrect.
Department
Department field displays the employee's current department. This field may be auto-populated and can be overwritten if incorrect.
Division
Select the employee's division during the period of review.
Appraiser Name
Name fields display the appraiser's first and name last name. This field is auto-populated and read-only.
Appraiser Title
Title field displays the appraiser's job title. This field may be auto-populated and can be overwritten if incorrect.
Appraiser Department
Department field displays the appraiser's current department. This field may be auto-populated and can be overwritten if incorrect.
Employee Class
Select the appropriate employee class of the person being appraised. If you are unsure of the employee's e-class, you may look up your department's positions through a two-step process using your department index or organization code on the HR Program Guide.
Period of Review
Click in the date fields to activate the date picker widget. Select the correct month, year and day of the appraisal from and to dates. View the Appraisal Cycle Deadlines for specific deadlines for employee classes.
Type of Review
"Annual" appraisals are regular, annually-recurring employee performance evaluations. "Probationary" appraisals are completed after a new employee's first six months of employment. Appraisals marked as "Other" are for less common circumstances, such as the conclusion of an employee's extended probationary period.
Supporting Comments
Supporting comments provide details about the employee's performance over the entire ratings period as it relates to the category being appraised. Though supporting comments are encouraged for all ratings, scores of 5.0 or below 3.0 will require supporting comments to be submitted.
