Profile
I joined the School of Health Studies as an Instructor in the
Department of Health Sciences in the Fall of 2018. My background includes both nursing
and health promotion experiences. As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department
I collaborated with physicians in the assessment, planning and implementation
of direct patient care and developed highly proficient clinical skills such as
phlebotomy, cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and various sterile
procedures. As the Director of Health Education for Lifesigns, I created
web-based programming for adult learners on topics such as blood pressure
management and smoking cessation. Additionally, I assisted in implementing
worksite health screenings and follow-up blood pressure screenings. As an instructor
I draw upon my own personal experiences to provide students with real-world
examples of patient/client interactions. My goal is to prepare students with the
knowledge base and practical skills to successfully enter a career within the
healthcare field.
