Profile
Sohye Lee, Ph.D., RN, is an Associate Professor in the Loewenberg College of Nursing at the University of Memphis. She earned her Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Minnesota in 2017. Dr. Lee’s main research interests are preventing chronic disease and promoting community health by reducing health disparities for underserved minority populations in community settings. During her doctoral program, she targeted obesity as one of the risk factors of cardiovascular disease and developed a weight-management program that combined mobile technology and social support for African American women. In addition, she worked as a senior research coordinator at the University of Minnesota to develop and test a new model to reduce risks for heart disease and stroke for African American men. She also worked as a graduate research assistant to test mobile text messaging intervention for Korean American immigrant women for breast cancer screening. Since joining as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Lee has been working on research for chronic disease prevention and risk reduction among underserved populations.
