Profile
Angela Simonton joined the College of Health Sciences as an Instructor in the Department of Health Sciences in the Fall of 2019. Before joining the University of Memphis, Angela taught health and physical education in the K-12 public school setting. In this role she designed, implemented and evaluated a variety of health and physical education curriculum. Additionally, Angela planned and coordinated multiple health promotion programs targeting youth and physical activity habits in local schools and their communities. Over the last 5 years she has served on the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and worked very closely with the Louisiana Department of Education to design and implement professional development for other health and physical education teachers. Angela currently holds teaching licenses in three different states and is a certified health education specialist (CHES) and performance enhancement specialist (NASM-PES). Mrs. Simonton is happy to be working at the University of Memphis educating and mentoring future professionals in field of health sciences.
