Profile

Dr. Sharp teaches undergraduate and graduate classes in early childhood studies. Prior to teaching at the university level, Dr. Sharp taught in the public school system. She has conducted numerous in-service training sessions and workshops on topics such as early childhood literacy, assessment and evaluation practices in early childhood, quality classroom environments, motivation, and classroom management. She remains active in consulting, mentoring and outreach activities in city, county, and private schools throughout the greater metropolitan area. She is also the faculty co-sponsor of the student organization, the UMAEYC. Her research interests are: urban learning environments, early childhood literacy, teacher burnout, teacher dispositions, and values education.
