Profile

Dr. Cathy Meredith is an associate clinical professor in the area of elementary education. She received a B.S. in Early Childhood Education at the University of Tennessee at Martin, a M.S. in Counseling and Student Personnel Services at Memphis State University and an Ed.D. from The University of Memphis.  Dr. Meredith taught in the Memphis City Schools and also served as an assistant principal before becoming Director of the Undergraduate Teacher Education Program at Christian Brothers University.  She currently teaches undergraduate and graduate elementary and middle school methods courses at the University of Memphis and is known for integrating children's literature throughout the curriculum. Dr. Meredith believes in Constructivism and helps students learn how to teach through the use of play. She is a member of the International Play Association and the The Association for the Study of Play. She also serves as the chair person of ACEI's Awards Committee.
