Appendix E

October 2016, together with Nataliya Doroshenko, visited Dr. Bill Rayens and his collegues at the University of Kentucky to learn about his innovations in the elementary statistics classroom. This meeting led to ideas that supported an NSF IUSE proposal.

2017 submitted proposal to the American Statistical Association's member initiative program. Requested $3,300 for a project intended to heighten the awareness of the practice and profession of statistics in local area high schools in conjunction with the WTASA (West Tennessee chapter of the American Statistical Association). This project would arrange visits from WTASA members to local area high schools, arrange for volunteer mentors for chosen students, set up an opportunity for the chosen local high school students to accompany a working statistician at his/her place of employment for a day, and sponsor a poster competition to encourage students to share what they have learned.
