The Community Art Academy was a partnership between the art education program at the University of Memphis, the Davis Community Center, and the Memphis Parks and Recreation. In partial fulfillment of course requirements, University of Memphis art education majors enrolled in graduate and undergraduate art education classes designed, implemented and evaluated art lessons for youth ages 9-13 at the Community Art Academy. It took place on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. during Spring Semester 2010 at the Davis Community Center. University of Memphis Art Education Alumni Juried Exhibition Every year in March (Youth Art Month) I co-organized the University of Memphis Art Education Alumni Juried Exhibition. This is a chance to showcase the art of art education alumni and their k-12 students. Each alumni has the opportunity to submit a personal work of art and two of their students' art. At the opening reception, the alumni and their students are recognized for their outstanding art. Parents, school administrators and members of the community are invited to the opening and it offers a way to recruit future art majors and University of Memphis students.
