Profile

Dr. Meyer teaches coursework in the Ed.D. program in Higher Education that focus on higher education finance, IT, higher education administration, and research (dissertation proposal writing).  While at the University of Memphis, she has chaired 16 doctoral dissertations and served on an additional 17 dissertation committees.

She has researched online learning extensively and has produced 62 articles in national, peer-reviewed journals as well as written five monographs (four of these for the Association for the Study of Higher Education Monograph Series). In 2008, she was awarded the first JALN (Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks) “Paper of the Year” Award as well as the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research and Scholarship at the University of Memphis. Her passions include research (using any appropriate methodology) into online learning and studying the changes technology is driving through higher education.

Her service obligations include providing coordination to the HIAD programs, serving on the University of Memphis Institutional Review Board (IRB), and serving on the editorial boards of four journals related to higher education and/or online learning: Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks, Journal of Educators Online, The Internet and Higher Education, and Innovative Higher Education.
